I have a 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium with the SiriusXM radio and Bose speakers. Does anyone else have issues with the infotainment sound quality? I listen to a lot of ballad type, classical, and soft rock music. The sound on held notes/lyrics is tinny and buzzy. My previous vehicle was a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with SiriusXM and standard speakers. That sound on that set up was crystal clear. But sound quality of the Mazda's set up is far below.

I have taken it to the dealer twice with no success. Was even told there was nothing they could do. Has anyone here had this issue and, if so, what was the remedy? Thanks in advance!

*UPDATE* The sound quality is so awful no matter what I am listening to, I was ready to go trade it for something else a couple of weeks ago. It was making me LIVID! Instead, I emailed the service rep and requested him to ride with me and experience for himself what I had been trying to describe. He did not ride, but the service manager did. While I drove around he messed with all the buttons and settings. After a while he said he had heard enough and to go back. He reported to the service manager that there is something definitely wrong. They kept it but could not find the source. So they reached out to Mazda Technicians for help. Tests were requested and ran, data was sent, and now we are waiting for Mazda to get back to us.//02.19.2024

Thanks everyone for weighing in. The results of the tests was that "the tests show everything is functioning properly and no repair is needed." That is crap. To me, all the tests show is that electrical pulses are being sent and received. They do not evaluate the quality of the actual sound. Ears respond to physical sound wave, not electrical impulses. It sounds bad on radio, SXM, and plugged in (not wireless) Apple carplay; the different inputs make no difference. Regarding SXM, my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado had it with standard speakers; the sound was clear and clean. This entertainment sounds best when it is turned off. I am frustrated beyond polite words.

**AND ANOTHER UPDATE**
So it looks like the resolution is going to be replace the amplifier and add a small sub-woofer. Two audio shops both had that recommendation, so that is my fix. I really like the car except for this one (major) issue, and it appears that I am the one that will have to correct this defect. Grrrr...but looking forward to great sounding audio!!

 

Have you checked the sound range by making all possible adjustments to it via the infotainment controls?
On my 2020 I found the factory preset not to my liking but after experimenting with multiple settings I found one that captured the majority of my music listening.
Granted I run the gamete from Heavy Metal to Jazz so there is some compromise.
I'm not enamored with Serious-XM and refuse to use it in any vehicle (but that's me).

 

Thanks for the information, but yes. The issue is only with SXM, not my music on my phone. The adjustments certainly improved the sound, but still tinny and buzzy. If the system had a decent equalize, I might be able to make finer adjustments. Talking with other folks, it seems that the Mazda SXM processor sucks and is the probably culprit. My next step is to listen to another system in the same year and model.

 

Sat radio is COMPRESSED like 128 mo3. Its always sounded bad. Perhaps now with a more revealing car stereo, you hear the garbage it is. My wife listens to SAT in her car. I cant stand it.

 

It sounds meh at best. When using Spotify it's a lot more clear for example. Even HD radio sounds better when it works. I will say that Satellite Radio is great for talk shows, but it's not a justifiable cost in my eyes...
