Default 2023 CX-5 Scuff Plates

Hello,

I'm a new 2023 CX-5 Sport owner and looking for information on some scuff plates for the door sills and the trunk. Has anyone purchased some that they find decent quality? The lighted OEM ones look snazzy but they are too pricey. Is there anything a little cheaper but not janky?

Thank you!

I got one of these.
They have the lip which makes install a bit easier, it's been on for two years.
I also use a clear marine sealant/adhesive in addition to the 3m tape.

Awesome, thank you. Are you worried that the adhesive won’t come off or will ruin the clear coat if you ever need to replace it?

I’ll give it a shot. Now for the door sills!

I cannot say it won't harm your paint.
That said:
Most marine adhesive/sealant is silicone based and all modern car paint contains silicone.
It has always come off fairly easily on my other vehicles that I've used it on.
You can always put some on the paint in a hidden area and see what happens.

There is an OEM bumper protector as well. My '21 came with it. Personally, what I think looks best is to go to a PPF installer (which I recommend for the front end of the car anyway) and have them do PPF on the rear bumper and in the door sills. My guy did this without me even asking. You can't tell its there, but you have the paint protected and it's a custom cut piece. You can also remove it and reinstall it without fear of damage.

I just purchased the OEM brushed aluminum rear bumper guard on eBay. It is really nice. $95. There are plenty aftermarket non lighted door sills that look decent for like $40-$50 a set. I may order a set soon.
