According to Consumer Reports, both vehicles for 2020 have identical ratings for comfort: Driving Position

I drove three of the Mazda SUVs this year. I love the looks of the CX-30, but too small for me. I love the CX-5, don’t need AWD or the turbo. I like the CX-9 but don’t need the third seat, which difficult to get to. I ended buying a CX-5 Grand Touring. It was the perfect size for my needs. I don’t need AWD, people mover or the turbo. All three drive excellently. Mazda knows how make a truly driver’s vehicle. I already had a Mazda 6 sedan. It is wonderful too.
