Thanks. The "purple seat" looks good, that will be an option if the seats are uncomfortable. One of my cars has a Recaro Ergomed drivers seat and the seat bottom was too firm so i put a piece of foam rubber under the lift-up cushion and solved that problem. Doubt i can get under the Mazda seat.
So more areas to wrap, guess the top of the back bumper is also a "scratch" point. With the SRCM, a lot of wrap would be required.

Mazda makes a stainless steel bumper guard that looks like it would work, but they want $125 plus install for that. The guy that does my protective wrap may be able wrap it for less.

Very close to ordering a 20201 Grand Touring Reserve (SRCM with Parchment) for my wife. Couple of things that annoy me a little.
- Lane Keep Assist doesn't seem to assist at all? Anyone found a solution?
Lane-keeping assist provides a bump-bump-bump- reminder via the steering wheel that you're crossing out of your lane. That's working for me as a new owner.
- Skinny tires (225? Toyo A23?). so considering installing 235 or 245s to get better road contact for braking and handling. Is this common to do? Some of the threads here recommend Continental CrossContacts or Michelin CrossClimate. Need a good all-season up here in an area that gets some snow and rain. FYI, I'm a fairly aggressive driver on the mountain roads around home since my car is a 911, which is why i like the CX-5 compared to slugs like the CRV and RAV4. Except the plug-in hybrid, that looks quick.
I'm not a motorhead, so the standard 19-inch tires seem to me working fine for me.
- No front parking sensors (will have rears installed by dealer). Anyone find a source for aftermarket for the front? My wife doesn't like the dark interior of the Signature, which has these.
I'm having rear parking sensors installed Monday by a Mazda dealer, about $900 all in. I had front and rear on my Lexus and loved that system, but I can live with just the rear sensors.
- Nav isn't standard - but found several sources here for the SD card at a much better price than dealer. And I guess Android Auto is fine as long as cell service available. Cell is spotty where i live and drive.
I bought an SD card on Ebay for less than $70, and I am using both the Mazda nav system and Apple CarPlay. Each has advantages, but I like that the Mazda nav system info displays on the heads-up-display but the Apply CarPlay info does not. For under $70 buying the SD card seems a no-brainer.
- Rear storage isn't great, but it looks big enough for the luggage for the two of us. I do like that the center rear seat folds down for carrying longer stuff. Has anyone found an accessory "back of rear seats panel" to allow stuff to be stacked to the roof safely?
- Reviews all look great, anyone have real world disappointments?
Two weeks and a few hundred miles in, I'm all smiles. The infotainment system is a little intimidating--like drinking from a fire hose at first--but I'm taking it one step at a time and it's truly impressive.

2021 infotainment is superior to 2020 in comparison, faster, better menus, and clean new look. I like the HUD and the Nav System for back up (we got the Signature because my wife loved the dark brown seats) which adds traffic sign recognition to the HUD, and turn by turn directions with arrows in the HUD...nice touch.

I guess the Mazda "lane keep assist" is just a friendly reminder. Certainly better than what I have now, which only works in our car if my wife is actually paying attention to my driving. 
Ebay SD card it shall be, $70 vs $500.
Getting close to going with the CX -5. Even found positive comments on the CX5 on the Macan forum.

Others have reported that the nav card copies do not get the updates with Toolbox. NavKing's cards are actual Mazda OEM navigation cards and I can confirm that the one I purchased from them DOES have 3-years of updates with Toolbox. I updated mine successfully when the Feb 2021 update was posted. There's only a few dollars difference between NavKings and the others so it seemed the better choice to me.

I'm planning to have the front end wrapped to minimize chips, that's a big issue esp with the SRCM my wife wants. Front bumpers, full hood and front fenders, maybe rear bumper so it isn't scratched loading stuff in the rear.
I have had the last few of my cars done with XPEL. The front bumper, full hood, front fenders, mirrors, A-pillars, door/key areas, rear bumper sill and the first 8 inches or so of the roof. And of course, with all that, some weeks ago a fairly large rock spun from a driver's car on my left side, hit the door - requiring a trip to one of those dent removal places. If you intend on keeping the car, PPF is a worthy investment and may even pay for itself when you go to sell it.
Seats - I'll have to drive more miles to see how they feel for us.
Seats are a very personal issue. Everybody's every-body is different. For me - being a short guy - 5' 6" they are quite comfortable. I think for taller/larger people bo so much - especially if the car does not have leg extensions.
Engine noise - I'll listen more carefully when i do my longer test drive. Folding mirrors breakage will be a nuisance if it happens a lot.

Having read in this Forum and others, about seats not being "just right" for everyone, do keep in mind, if the car is your optimal one, the seats can be "fixed" to suit your needs for comfort by a competent auto upholstery shop.
After observing what the custom builders car do on the various TV shows, we have had the seat foam shaved/replaced on two cars and it made a HUGE comfort difference and in our satisfaction level.
So if you find the seats aren't quite perfect for you, keep this option in mind.
