I have a 2016 with 88,000 miles on it. I live in Ohio where they love road salt. Some of the bushings and washers show surface corrosion similar to what you pointed out in your photos. The condition has not changed over the time I've owned the car, so I don't think it will be a problem. And no, I am not a Mazda employee. Enjoy your CX-5.
yup, I plan on it. And if it isn't as reliable as I had hoped well then I just sell it and move on.
I just bought a 2020 Mazda CX5 GT. It's not even 2 weeks old and guess what - the control arm joints are already rusted. This is not ok with me.
Does anybody else have any feedback on this? Anybody else have the sane problems? Straight off the lot and already rusted.... Rusted around bolt areas. Rusted around bolt areas
Aha that's not rust, that looks like COVID. It will certainly kill the car if you don't vaccinate it with a spray of oil ever year or two. Rush proofing warranties, are not worth the paper their written on. Not Mazda nor any rust proofing company will ever pay out on rust warranty. When you file a claim they will speak in another alien language to you, and the grease monkeys will try to make you look like an idiot. Don't waste your time.
Every spring or summer, i put my garden sprinkler under the car and move it around. The water spray will wash of the salt. If you want have it oil sprayed each fall. For $50. Kiss the rust warranty good bye.
Because these cars come by banana boat, the salty sea spray eats away at the metal. I just brought a new cx5 and the first day i drove it it smelt of burning oil from that was on the exhaust pipe. The dealer also warned me of this. The factory lightly sprays oil to protect during shipping and whilst sitting on dealer lots for up to 6 months rusting. You can also use rust proofing spray can to manually spray some areas, but just make sure its good for rubber.
The problem is the cx 5 is assembled in Japan but contains parts made in China. Hence rust due to poor quality steel.
Does anyone have any tips on Rust Proofing?
which is the best? I heard some of this stuff will cause rubber to swell in ball joints and hoses etc. Is that true?
