Exclamation 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature Turbo

had my vehicle for 4 months....from day one there has been the annoying vibration from hell. Rebalanced - Nothing, Road Balance - made it worse, Changed out the entire tire and wheel ensemble - nothing, Removed axel - nothing, removed springs - nothing, removed brakes-nothing, so now they are fighting with Toyo and Mazda to see if we can switch out the tires.

From what I have read there is an issue with the Toyo tires. I even wrote to Toyo and they replied with the following: "Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires U.S.A. Corp. The original equipment tire that came installed on your new vehicle is a custom tire produced by Toyo Tires on behalf of your vehicle manufacture. Toyo Tires provides our Limited Warranty for Original Equipment & Light Truck Tires for five years from the date of new vehicle purchase, to the original purchaser. The limited warranty covers the tires for any workmanship and material defects as diagnosed by your service center. The warranty does not provide coverage for any outside influence that induces damage to the tires including but not limited to road hazards, irregular wear, rapid wear etc. The original equipment tire does not offer an expectation of mileage and does not come with a mileage warranty." So that certainly didn't get me anywhere....but...these tires are made especially for Mazda and cannot be bought off the rack so its interesting that this seems to be a Mazda issue and not other Toyo tires! I love the car! Turbo is amazing! But this vibration is very very painful!!! Yes I could simply go buy a new set of tires and the problem will be solved. But that does not fix the problem. It only fixes it for me. I have had 3 different 2021 loaners and they ALL do the same thing! If more people complained then maybe Mazda would fix it. I drive my car a lot and its a vibration that you feel in your seat. It happens between 60 and 70 MPH. If anyone is having the same issue please write here so something can be done to fix this annoying issue.

Though some are much better than others, most all U.S. states have lemon laws for new cars and you may find that in your state your dealer is obligated by law to fix the problem to your satisfaction, replace the car, or give you a refund. Here's a starting point:

Google is your friend if you need more information on lemon laws in your state! You'll also find that there are attorneys who specialize in lemon law cases if it comes down to that. YMMV.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I think the OEM TOYOS -AS/36 are a poor choice for the CX-5 because they are poor tires to begin with. Just check the ratings. Within a month, I swapped them out for Vredesteins. Even on my wife's 2021 Crosstrek, that's leased, I swapped out the OEM's for Michelin CrossClimate 2's. Tires are where the rubber meets the road and I simply will not compromise on the tires - even when the auto manufacturers do.
Well, good luck let us know how this goes.

On another note, this is an older thread, but I wonder how the OP made out.

Interesting. Is that true about the better additives on the premium fuels?

The fix is having the tires balanced with a high speed balancer using a flange thats mounted in the rim bolt holes and not the center hole in the rim. Everytime ive had my wheels balanced using the center hole theyve been off...everytime..

In reading this it sounds like they would replace your tire(s) if the dealership will say there is a problem. Why not show the dealer this info and see what they say. My dealer spoke with Toyo about the tires on my 2019 wearing too fast. So it is possible you could get the tires replaced with some help from your dealer. You can purchase the A36 Toyo tires on Tirerack as well.

Just thought I would add to this thread, I have a 2014 AWD diesel and had similar issue with persistent wheel vibrations on motorway. As it’s a used car I don’t have a warranty or dealer. I tried a couple of local garages who balanced the wheels but it didn’t fix it. I even replaced a wheel with a new one as they had trouble balancing it and thought it might have a slight buckle. It was driving me mad on the motorway which we don’t use often, but when we do it’s usually a 4hr drive to see family back in Yorkshire.
I did some research and read about Hunter road force wheel balancing machines which apparently works better for bigger rims like the 19” ones on the cx5. Had to drive 50 miles to a garage that had one of these (I’m in Scotland near Edinburgh and went to autotec in Greenock) but it absolutely sorted the issue. It’s a really clever machine (doesn’t just spin the wheel, it applies road force too and some other complex measurements to balance the wheel better than normal balancing) and cost me £90 for the hour but it has completely fixed the vibrations - the drive home was a dream!
If you’re having issues and have ruled out the usual balancing or alignment issues then I’d really recommend this.

While rare, know that not all tyres are actually round. Most have a low side, identified by the manufacturer with a red dot on the sidewalk (in the US at least). This should be aligned with the high point on the wheel. Sometimes even when properly mounted the tire will still be out of round and exhibit vibrations. A few tire shops have the equipment to shave the tire to be perfectly round when mounted on the wheel. Of course I’m not certain this is your problem, but it might be…
