Default 2017 CX5 Dirty Rear Window

Anyone come up with an idea on how to keep the rear hatch window cleaner. I have applied Rain X which did not do much to keep dirt off the window.

Realize that the air deflector on top of the rear tailgate is intended to keep it cleaner.

Just wondered if anyone has came up with a solution.

Thanks,
Jim

This has been the subject of discussion lately on the Jeep Grand Cherokee forum. The basic consensus is that hatchtype vehicles have to conform with the laws of physics and the shape of the rear creates a vacuum at the rear of the vehicle which draws in dust and other stuff you don't want there. The problem has been there since the first wagons and hatchbacks appeared on the market and will probably be there until they are no longer made. The air deflectors and spoilers help, but can't really eliminate the problem. That's why they started putting wipers and washers on the rear. I've owned SUV's and hatchbacks since my 1978 Bronco and every one of them has had this.

Default Thanks for input

Appreciate the response. I assumed that would be the case.

I was having an issue trying to find some splash guards/mud flaps that actually did something and didn't look too bad in the process. The ones I settled on hang down about 5-6" below the rear quarter panel and must be disturbing the air flow under the car, as it seems to take almost twice as long for the window in the lift-gate to get dusty/dirty.
I remember my 88- S10 Blazer had a wing on the rear of the roof that actually forced air down over the rear window to help keep it cleaner. Worked ok in dusty conditions, but just funneled rain, snow and road wash to the glass in wet conditions.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking about mud flaps .

As you noted they have to hang down enough to help with rocks/dirt .

Jim
