Default 2017 cx 5 rear hatch reflecters

Has anyone tried fitting small LED's in the reflector housing ? If so, how do gain access to the rear of the housing???

In some markets they have foglamps incorporated into the housing, otherwise its a sealed unit.

I'm still wanting to know how to get to the (reflector/back-up) lamp housing. Do you have to remove the entire inside cover on the lift-gate ? I see a small plastic tab on the side of the lens housing but it doesn't reveal any mounting screws when I pop it off.

Its a right pain in the **** to remove these lights.. You need to remove the inside tailgate trim to access the retainer nuts.

Thank-you, that's what I was afraid of. I see a lot of the newer suv's are making these large housings for the smallish back-up lamps and just using it as a reflector. I was really hoping Mazda would've stepped up and incorporated parking/brake lamps in these housings.
