Default 2014 mazda CX5 SCBS malfunction

I've got a 2014 CX-5 and I constantly get the SCBS warning light show up while driving on the motorway.

It mainly happens when going uphill on any slight incline, and I push a little harder on the accelerator. Even happens when I've switched it off through the car settings. It's also happened when the car was in cruise control going uphill. It's an automatic, so it shifted gears itself to maintain the speed and then went into limp mode and the error appeared on the dashboard.

As soon as the error shows up the car goes into limp mode.

It resets once I turn the car off and on again but this is a bandaid fix not a permanent solution.

Is there a way to permanently disable this "feature"??

You have to properly diagnose your car. No point in disabling anything. It may be not the SCBS fault at all.

This can be caused by the windshield sensor being covered in dirt, debris, fog or frost.
If you clean your windshield and there is no fog/frost, then as institor posted, you need to find the root cause.
Personally, I would not be driving the vehicle until the reason is determined and fixed.

You have to turn off SCBS every time you start the vehicle. However, as Lobstah said, you should determine the cause of it as the cause may be something besides just the laser system or the SCBS itself and that might be something that causes other driveablility or safety problems. However, turning it off to drive it safely to the shop may be necessary as it is not safe or wise to drive around in limp mode.

Regardless, if you turn it off, it will reactivate the next time you start the vehicle.

Even turning it off every single time I drive the car doesn't change anything. It still occurs and goes into limp mode.

I've cleaned the windshield and wiped all the sensors numerous times. Doesnt change anything.

It really bothers me that I called the mazda dealer local to me in Brighton, UK and they wanted to charge me £480 just to book in an appointment. Back home in Australia this would never occur as it's a known mazda issue. Only reason I bought the car is because I know Mazda have an amazing reputation back home in Aus and was confident buying one. I'm now having second thoughts here in the UK.

You have two choices at this point.
Get it to a reputable Mazda dealer or service garage of which there are many in the UK and have them fix the issue.
Or sell the vehicle for what you can get for it.
It comes down to how much money you want to spend or lose on a 2014 vehicle.
For your safety, your families and others on the road, you definitely shouldn't be driving it.
Good luck in whatever you choose.
