Hi, we have got a problem with our 2013 CX-5. The heater blows hotter on the passenger side than it does on the driver's side.

The blend doors work fine so it's not those. I've given the coolant a flush and clean and there seems to be no blockages.

Can anyone suggest anything else to try?

We are in New Zealand so the driver's side is on the right.

Winter is coming soon so would like to get the heater working properly.

Have you been able to confirm that the blower fan is not the problem? If the fan is in the process of checking out, it might be able to push the side with less piping ok, but not have very much left over for the other side. Not saying that's the problem with your vehicle, just something to consider.

 

I would go back to rechecking your blend doors.
Not sure how you did it but normally we use a scope to check for proper operation because they are not always visible to see?


It always a good idea to check the blower motor but...The blower motor is direct drive. If it were you blower motor the way CFM works you would have diminished flow on both sides or over all the HVAC vents.

 

I've checked the blower motor and that works fine. The cold air is the same when it's in windscreen mode, hot on passenger side and cold on drivers.

 

I figured the blower motor was fine. I would now check the actual temperature coming out of the vents? It easy to do and even if you don't have the automotive measuring devices, I am sure you have one in your kitchen?
These little tempretue tools are great for all sorts of automotive use. I have one in the center vents of my Mazda and also in the intake tube just before the Throttle body.
