19" tires on CX5- Winter
Hello,
While I live in Virginia- I have family that lives where is snows- I usually spend a few months visiting so I can ski and such- How are the 19" tires in snow or should I consider Snow tires?
Tire rack has a pre built set that as steel rims, 17" with 42mm offset- will these be ok for my new cx-5?
Thanks so much

I have a 2020 with 19" wheels.
While Toyo does make some decent tires, the stock OEM tires on the CX-5 are not very good at all.
I have had no issue in the Maine snow since I replaced the OEM Toyo tires with a great set of all-weather tires that suit my driving abilities and conditions.
I won't say what brand or model tires I bought as that is another opinion-based topic like what oil should I use.
You can switch to much better all-weather tires or purchase another complete set of winter tires and wheels and take the time to change them out every fall and spring.
The cost of doing either won't be that much different but if you purchase a winter set will you still be on the not-so-great OEM Toyo's during the rest of the year.
Either way, unless you have a lot of money it's best to wait until you actually need new tires before you do either.
