Yes my NA FWD '18 CX5 is very frustrating on the acceleration side from a stop. It does not adapt to your driving style, that's BS.
Recently I test drove a '22 CX5 Turbo and also was not satisfied by its performance, not a big advantage over the NA engine.
The CX5 has amazing handling but needs much better powertrain improvements that could match its sport handling ability.
Interesting to see this thread is still ticking. Not sure if anyone has a concrete answer as to why some of our CX5's lag-acceleration from a stop. The most believable has something to do with the Skyactiv. Please post if anyone gets an adjustment of some kind that solves the problem. The mechanics at the dealer think my CX5 runs and accelerates fine?

It is possible that you have created some small adaptive from the ECU by your driving style? You can try accessing the OBDII diagnostic connector and clear/ Reset the DTC area and then go to the Monitors and reset them. Try for the next few days driving a little more active(agressive but not racing /Hot Rodding) and this should make a noticeable difference in the off line acceleration performance. REMBER when re-setting the Monitors it will take a few days for them to go to ready status, so if you have a required emission test don't do it until after the test. LOL

I have a 2013 Mazda CX-5. I bought it with 30k miles and now have 100k. The SUV has been great except for the acceleration lag from a stop light. I have had acceleration lag the entire time I have owned it, and the dealer can never find any issue - three dealer visits for this with the SUV in the shop now. A few weeks ago, the lag was the worst it has been, and I legitimately feared for my safety. I have read posts from CX-5 owners of 2013, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, and even 2024 owners, and the issue persists. This could be my last Mazda.

interesting way to start as a new member?? Normally I Welcome new members but in your case I will reserve that for the time?
Joining a forum as new member and threatening to no longer own a Mazda does not win any rewards or make members feel bad for you and want to help.
Sorry but your post is nothing more than a rant and tells use nothing to help even give you ideas about what you could check or that dealers and or shop checked????
I will say if the vehcle you own makes you fear for your life best advise STOP DRIVING IT!!!!
My apologies. I am new to forums, and I am going through the frustration of trying to fix this long time acceleration lag issue.. I am hoping for a fix so that I can continue to drive my CX-5.
I have replaced spark plugs, repeatedly cleaned mass airflow sensor, used quality gas, used Chevron Techron cleaner periodically, replaced air filters repeatedly, and still this issue persists. Also, there was some tind of computer update, presumably for the transmission. Anyone have other suggestions for a fix? Thanks.
