Default 17” for 19” wheel swap

Hey all - i just got my 2022 Cx5 and really wish jr would have come with the 19” rims. I long shot here but is anyone with the 19” rims wanting to trade/swap for brand new 17” rims and tires?

let me know!

I have not done this for awhile, but for other cars, I always found that that there were more potential tire choices available in 18 or 20 than 19. I also found that as you go up in diameter, unless you are willing to pay big bucks for forged wheels, the weight increase with each inch in diameter increase in a given wheel that is manufactured using a run of the mill gravity cast is pretty significant.

The other unusual thing is the stock Mazda 19 wheel is very narrow (7.5 inches) for your typical 19. 8 inch width is more typical, and therefore even heavier, and of course changes your offset spec...

I do not know if this is true for the Mazda CX5, but I suspect so. All I am saying is do your research before you make the jump.

thanks for the info! The 2022 CX5 CE comes with stock 19” black rims which is precisely what Im looking for. Im almost certain it would be a lateral move as I don’t think the CE is manufactured differently just for bigger rims. I was hoping someone would prefer the 17” rims and would want to trade plus cash.

I have a 2017 Sport. I installed 19" Mazda 6 GT wheels on my car with no issues. Just had to swap my tire pressure sensors over. You will probably want to keep your eye out on the CX5 USA page. There is usually a set for sale here and there.

There's a set of pristine 2016 19" wheels out in my shed - only downside is I'm outside Tyler, Texas....
