Trailer Harness ?? 2022 CX30
We installed a Drawtite hitch, not to bad. The wiring provided was a universal thing, and I was reluctant to install since it is intended for older cars with larger wires. Uhaul did something, not sure what.
Is there an actual quality plug-in harness adaptor that does not pinch or cut wires??

I paid a trailer supply place to install my harness on my CX-5. They had to drop the exhaust to install the hitch and they took the inside of my car apart to install the wiring. I'm pretty sure it was plug and play but they knew what they were doing and I didn't. You can't tell my interior has ever been apart. The couple of times I've hooked a trailer and lights they worked just fine.
I did this to my 1988 Mazda 626, completely isolating the car’s wiring. I think it still applies to modern cars.
In a box I put 5 inexpensive headlamp relays hidden in the trunk. Left turn, right turn, stop, back up light and tail light.
Connected a 10amp in line fuse the battery and from that ran 10awg wire to the relays in the trunk.
Look at the relay diagram and you will see switch input, switch output, solenoid positive and solenoid negative.
Power from battery goes to switch inputs of all relays.
Ground solenoid negative of all relays to the car body. This is low current, 20awg is fine.
Run very light gauge solid core wire right into the wire connectors behind the tail/turn/brake/back up to each relay solenoid positive.
I found it pretty easy to insert the solid core wire (I used 20awg)directly into the spade connectors and pinch them a bit with pliers.
Run one wire from each light connector (eg. tail light) to one of the relay solenoid positive connections. Repeat for left/right/brake/back up.
Run 14awg wire from each relay switch output to the trailer hitch connection. This wire should come already connected to trailer plug set.
Why this way?
1. Trailer draws power from car battery, not car electrical (except for about 100ma to the relays)
2. If the trailer short circuits, it will blow the fuse at the car battery and not put a load on the car electrical.
3. When you sell your car this can be completely removed with no damage to the vehicle assuming a bolt on hitch.
