Three Things
I really like the 2023 CX-30 I purchased last year, but there are three things that annoy me. They are: 1) uneven acceleration 2) rough sounding engine when accelerating and 3) when braking, as the transmission hits through the lowest gears, I feel a lunge forward that makes me press the pedal harder. 1 & 3 I have not seen in modern cars and I wonder if a software fix could be found. The rough sounding engine has been noted in numerous reviews and is not much of an issue, but the other two affect driving as the lunge forward almost caused me to hit a vehicle at a stoplight. Does anyone have any experience like this?
THREE THINGS.....
1) How many miles on the odometer
2) What was the last service done to the transmission and at what miles
3) Need a short video of the engine noise you are referring to do not move the filming around. So, in other words take the video in the approx. area you hear the noise.
Actually, there are a few more questions that I would need and any good service writer for the auto technician (*not a general mechanic) would want to know.
*exception would be a specifically trained Mazda certified mechanic.
But if you want to skip all the guessing around from members and other media sources you have been looking at.... IMHO and my advice is to go to Mazda if you still have any Warranty remaining. go to Mazda and have them look at your VIN for any service-related records of what you described, or go to a ASE service shop in your area. You can find one by web searching the phrase.... Find ASE service shop in my area.

I think lurching may be due to high idle. It is about 750, fully warmed up with transmission in D and foot on brake. Shouldn't it be lower? It has about 12,000 miles and only routine service. I don't think the engine noise (raspy) is anything but natural. The uneven acceleration was mentioned in Consumer Reports, so it may be normal operation also.
750 idle engine speed after the coolant light goes off and you should at that point be in closed loop operation is a bit high. There are some operating conditions that the ECU will adjust for that idle speed. It will not cause the description "lurching" in the transmission at least not at 750 rpm..
Consumer reports generally get information from owners... that should tell you something. Not a reliable source of fact-based information. If there is not or any TSB about this transmission and or any other related to your concerns and they do not specifically include your VIN model, years, etc. then it's not a problem that Mazda feels are affecting what they determine number of Mazda in service.
You still did not answer all my service questions. Routine is not an answer.
However, this is a concern that you should be going to Mazda and not asking on a forum that is 95%+ owners and DIY that are not really qualified to answer with any trained service information other than then if your authored concerns feels like it fits a problem they think are having the same occurrences . And some will even claim outside the model production year comparing their Mazda to yours which most of the time because of model changes each year likely will not even fit in your specific model Mazda. I suggest that because apparently you are still under warranty is to go to Mazda.
