Default New Car missing wheel arch panels?

Hi all, just joined the forum as I just took delivery of my new CX-30 on Thursday. I was driving it today and just noticed that under the rear wheel arches it seems to be trimmed with some kind of textile, similar to what I'd expect to see on a parcel shelf rather than on the exterior. That can't be right can it? It'll get soaked the minute I go through a puddle. Is it possible they forgot to attach the final panels? On the front arches there's solid plastic there.

There also seem to be anchor points exposed, which I don't see on the front arches.

The plastic extends up the back of the arch, but above that and in the front there's just textile.

I've emailed the dealership but it's a weekend and they're closed.

I wouldn't worry about it. Similar material has been used since the early 50's.. Hard plastic is often used for ease of assembly and looks. What you have is better at sound deadening. It works just fine, just isn't as shiney.
