Angry Key fob problem

Hey All. I'm the pretty new owner of a '24 CX30 Carbon Edition. Really like the car. Styling is gorgeous. Performance is really all I could want at this point of my life.

The car came with 1 key and I had the local Mazda dealer make me a new one to the tune of $450 about 90 days ago. The little rocker switch at locks and unlocks the doors broke. It’s moving but doesn’t click and doesn’t lock or unlock the doors. Kinda sucks. The thing is 90 days old and cost $450. Mazda’s policy is keys are “hard use” items and aren’t warranted. Nice, huh. I did speak k with the parts manager. When I told him the buttons still work in my 22 yr old Lexus key he said they don't make them like they used to.

Any suggestions on how to get them to replace my key? Chip

There should be a switch at the bottom of the fob that pops the back panel off to reveal a physical key to unlock the door. The hole for it is under the door ****. I’m told if the fob is otherwise not working, you can push it against the start button to start the car.

Also, I’m not sure it’s a regular thing but Costco has been known to partner with lock smiths in the past to do key fobs for half price. I don’t know if they still have the deal going on or if they have one coming up in the future. It might be a place to start, though

It's amazing how many people don't know abt the physical key till it's too late and the door lock is jammed up. Should use it at least once a year to be sure it will still turn.

Having that physical key made is a lot cheaper than having the fob made. If you can get that made, maybe you can push the fob to the start button. That’s the only suggestion I have left for you.

Why not buy a FOB key shell and move the guts to the new replacement ? Take the fresh key blade to the locksmith, Walmart, etc. and cut it.
Just make sure to match the FCCID.
