Interesting, I do not feel it in our CX-5 kicking in and hence, do not find it intrusive. Wondering if this is more intrusive and noticeable in the CX-30.

Yes I have a 2019 Mazda 3 with the same drivetrain - I can feel the CD kicking in and out and I also have a "Subtle but strong" vibration throughout the car when in two cylinders at around 90kmh. Super annoying. There was a TSB for the Mazda 3 for updated radiator mounts and software - seemed to work to reduce the vibration for about a week, but now it's back. Not sure what to do. Maybe some people just perceive it more then others? Still would prefer just to have the normal skyactiv G 4 cylinder running on all fours all the time. I see NO difference in mileage between 2019 and my 2014

There are many more that have noticed this "Bump in power" and vibration at least in the Mazda 3. I also sometimes get a droning or rumbling sound at certain speeds in two cylinders.

I hate CDA. I can feel when it kicks in, it's like the car is shifting gears. And the entire vehicle has a slight vibration when it's activated. Then when it kicks out, I again feel something like a slight gear shift, and the vehicle rides smoothly again.
I can't imagine that any little mileage improvement is worth that vibration.
If I had it to do over again, I'd go with the Preferred package.

Hi, my CX-30 starts shaking more than vibrating when CD is activated, at any speed, when at top speed limit it feels like the car is gonna break down, it shakes left/right as well, Mazda dealers have made 3 attempts to fix it but they say I have to live with it, got myself a second job so I can afford to buy a new car, not a Mazda...... It all started when I changed tyres from summer to winter tyres, summer 18" and winter is 16", put the 18" again well balanced and shaking still there. The problem is that when your car gets this problem no dealer will take it in for trade when you buy a new one, I tried it a couple of days ago, they just laughed at me after they test drove my car. So my 2nd job is for getting deposit money for a new car wich is not gonna be a Mazda!! So if you are looking to buy a new Mazda make sure it does not have Cylinder Deactivation, its not worth it f you get just that car with the problem......

I’m done with Mazda! I had 2 2019 CX-5 GT Reserve (turbo). Soul Red Crystal for my wife and Sonic Silver for me. We are both retired so I sold my Sonic Silver. When I purchased the Sonic Silver, there was a terrible vibration which I did not feel during my short test drive of it. The next day, when I took it to the highway, was when I felt the vibration. I took it to the dealer to complain about it and they kept the car for three days. There was still vibration! So I took it to another dealer and have them diagnose it. They found extra lump of rubber on the right front tire! The mechanic shaved the extra rubber carefully off the tire. That eliminated the vibration. I emailed Mazda Customer Care about my experience with the brand new vehicle and I wanted the tire replaced. Well, I got a reply that I should bring the complain to the tire manufacturer! It really sounded like “go screw yourself, complain to Toyo Tires, it is not Mazda’s problem.’. Well, I still have the Soul Red CX-5 GTR but it won’t be long ‘til I trade it with another brand CUV. BTW, the CX-5 seats are uncomfortable on long drive.

Soon, I will say goodbye to Mazda.

On mine, you can feel when CD kicks in, feels like it's shifting gears, and then you get a light vibration that you can feel in the seat, floor, steering wheel. Very annoying. And then you can feel when it kicks out. I hate it.
You have to pay more for the Premium version and this is what you get? When my lease is up, I'm turning it in. If I get another CX-30, it will be the Preferred, which doesn't have it. I may lose a couple luxury items, but that's a fair trade to not have that vibration.
I've asked the dealer several times, searched the internet, to see if ANYONE knows a way to disable it, but, no luck.

I no longer have a Mazda vehicle but I’m still receiving email notifications on this thread. Anyway, are there other vehicle manufacturer who equip cars with CD? IMHO, this is a bad technology. The first CX-5 I owned had the CD. I traded it in for a CX-5 turbo. That turbo has comparable if not better gas mileage than the CX-5 with CD. And I gained way better performance with the CX-5 turbo.

If you can afford it, go with the turbo version.

There is no way to disable it but if enough people complain, then Mazda might roll out a software update on it. As the OP suggested and if your budget allows it, you can go with the turbo version which does not have the CD. Interestingly the CD on our CX-5 is not intrusive as you described, wondering what is different in the CX-30 since the engine and transmission is as far as I know identical.

I'm having vibration issues with my brand new Mazda 6 when it hits 80kmph. I was told today there is a known issue with the Cylinder Deactivation System, which kicks in around 80kmph. My car is currently with the dealership while they fit a "part" to hopefully resolve the issue. They haven't yet told me what the part is to fix the problem. I will be test driving it again tomorrow and if the issue persist I'll be taking it straight back.

Default Good luck

The fix will either fix the problem or make it worse, for me it became worse after the fix. Basically all Skyactive-G 122hp without turbo have problem with cylinder deactivation. Do not buy them
