Ticking Noise

Ticking Noise
Hello all, great stuff throughout the site. I have a 1991 Mazda Bravo b2600i 4wd that has recently been giving me a bit of grief. Sometimes it won't start, especially in the morning, until I try to turn it over many a times. It is having intermittent crank no start problems. The other night while driving, the engine completely stopped, the revs just dropped to zero but the lights and everything else still worked. I had it towed home and after a few cranks in the morning, it started again with a rough idle which soon disappeared.
I was just having a look at it then and noticed a ticking sound that would build up louder over 10 seconds, drop away and then build up in noise again.
I have just recently replaced the rotor and distributor cap. I am thinking maybe a problem with the computer and plan on having a look at it over the weekend, I understand a certain capacitor can fail and cause corrosion. Fuel seems fine but I am yet to check the pressure. Would the best place to do that be after the filter (it is in the engine bay just before the injectors)? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

As far as the stopping of the engine mid-drive, you have a bad ignition switch. Mine did the same, and a new switch fixed the problem.
As far as all the other problems, I don't know.
Hope this helps.
