Default Throttle freeplay 1984 B2000

Any ideas on how to fix the problem of freeplay in the linkage on a 1984 B2000? The piece that is attached to the firewall, with the linkage coming through has a lot of freeplay. It is causing a good 3-4in of play at the pedal with a grommet filling the gap. I will post a picture when I can next weekend if it is needed.

Any thoughts on how to convert it to a throttle cable?

Would it be easier to do a Weber or Holley conversion?

If that would be easier, what Weber would be recommended?

Sounds simple enough. Is it going to be a straight bolt on? Using the entire carb, or just the bracketry and cable (ie using my stock carb).

Any write-ups available?

here's some pics of the pedal assembly and adjusting nuts at the carb

(1)check the pedal arm it might be bend if the adjustment nuts dont help

the pedal linkage pic looks the same as my 91 b2600

The '84 doesn't have this. It has a complex maze of steel bars and plastic cups (best way I can think of to describe it). I have placed new grommets where everything meets, and this made a slight difference. Is there a way to just bolt on a linkage from and cable from a newer carb? Even though the '84 F/MA has the carb on the opposite side as the newer motors?
