Default Steering Gear Differences 1986-89 and 1990-93

Hey everyone. I use to be on the Mazda Trucking forum, glad to see there's some traffic here and some recognizable names.

Anyway, I have an 88 B2200 with an FE engine from a Sportage. I'm not happy with my power steering setup, mostly the placement of the reservoir. The gear appears to be leaking, so seems like a good time to move some stuff in the engine bay. I'm going to try to move the wiper fluid to the passenger side so I can install the B2600i steering fluid reservoir and air filter housing. I can't have the truck down for long, so when I was getting the rest of the stuff form the B2600i, I grabbed the steering gear.

The rebuild kit shows it's used for all model years, but the gear boxes are listed as 86-89 and 90-93. Does anyone know the differences? They look the same, look like they mount the same, and the steering flange to connect to the column and the drag link are shown to be the same for all B-series according to Jim Ellis Mazda Parts. Is it just a difference in output shaft size/spline count? Pitman arms are shown for the different year ranges as well.

The rebuild kit won't be here until Friday, just trying to get some ducks in a row.

Welcome Bailey! I'm not sure on the steering gears as I haven't had to replace any of them yet.
