Default problems with fuel and jerking/studdering

i have a 91 b2200, my truck will jerk especially during accelerating after downshifting, it will keep like jerking until it hits 2500 rpms, same with third gear. Also could it be involved with something with my fuel problem? because i get very bad gas milage now. Someone told me it may be my fuel filter? But will it make my gas milage go from 300 miles to 150 miles on a full tank? Could the studdering/jerking be from a bad oxygen sensor? The jerking didnt happen until recently, but does it all the time now. How would i know what to change, such as oxygen sensor, what should i look for to know what is wrong with it.

i would start out with a general tune up. You could have a fouled plug or crusty cap or rotor. You can change plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter and o2 for less than $80. I would also look for loose or cracked vacuum lines or electrical connections. I am having sort of the same problem with mine and doing all the things I mentioned helped a lot. (see "full tune-up and still running poorly") When I first got the truck I could barley drive it and now I can drive it just fine, it just still has a slight hesitation/studder.

This seems to be a great mystery to the B2200 Carb models. I too have an 88 SE5. After a new carb, o2 sensor, tune up, fuel filter, egr, blah, blah, etc. It still does the herky jerky. Alot of it seems to depend on the day. Some days are worse than others. I went so far as to run a can of Bg44K through it, no help. One guy told me to pull the gas tank and flush it out as dirt may be plugging it intermittently. I am so tired of people that think they know what it is when in reality they are really just guessing. So here we sit still. This is the third site that I have joined and we'll see if any of these folks can come up with something. 88 B2200, 145,000 miles. owned since new, always babied and taken care of.
