Power steering gear leak

Power steering gear leak
I have a substantial leak in the power steering gear on the B2200. Looks like its the seal on the pitman arm shaft. I see the seal kits are available but if thats the only leak I'd like to just get that one and do it. Is it possible to get that seal only and can it be changed without disassembling the whole gearbox? Any help in this regard is appreciated. If I have to take the whole thing apart then what is the process of rebuilding it entirely? Or, should I just send it in and have it done or buy a reman and send mine in as core?
Thanks

I took the easy way out on my '88 B2200; I bought a non-leaking PS gearbox at the parts yard for $25, actually installed it about 6 years later !!!
I've also installed two remanufactured PS pumps in the 26 years I've had my B2200, the second one was free replacement, lifetime warranty.

These were quite expensive as rebuilts back then, imagine more costly now. I recommend trying the seal/rebuild kit, and if that doesn't work to use yours as a core and bite the bullet and get lifetime warranty rebuilt unit.

I think I can handle doing a rebuild. However, I'm having trouble finding out exactly the makeup of the the box. Are these Mazda B truck power steering gears similar to the Saginaw type found on many domestic vehicles? I've seen tutorials of rebuilding those on YouTube and they don't look that hard to do.

I googled this exact thing I found a tutorial on an rx7 power steering pump as they are similar except the resovior on b or backing plate on 7 and a different shaft for the pulley. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...Gyt97_g3eLVv-p
