Default Mazda b2300 thermostat not working

Hello, I bought a brand new oem thermostat for my b2300 2.3l with the sensor. It's supposed to reset at 190 and doesn't. It won't reset at all, it just continues to 240 before I turn it off. What could make the thermostat not work and before this I bought a 3rd party one and the thermostat was stuck open I believe. It would get hot when I would push the gas and never reset and then when you let off it starts cooling off. Please help me

If your engine is overheating (or has) it may not be the thermostat......your radiator could be the issue, or water pump, or radiator cooling fan(s), etc. If the thermostat is opening, it's doing it's job......in that case, something else in the cooling system is not doing it's job!

1. Install a Stant thermostat.

2. Bleed out ALL the air out of the cooling system. If necessary, jack up front of truck, take radiator cap off, start engine, let run for 20 minutes adding 50/50 coolant as necessary.

Some thermostats can be installed the wrong way.......where the portion/side that should face the engine side of the coolant, is installed facing the radiator side of the coolant, and therefore doesn't open. Make sure that you have the thermostat installed correctly. It happens, and it is more common than you would believe!

The thermostat is on a housing, it's a all in one unit. It only goes one way.
