Default manual tranny gear oil grade

well i just changed the gear oil in the diffs/transfer/tranny the manual say gl5 or gl4 for the tranny
used 80w90 gl5 for all
a week later its getting colder here and i'm finding the gears in the tranny are holding there roll/spin shifting from 1 to 2 the syncros grind a bit till the gear oil warms up
i'm going to change the gear oil again this time i got some 85w140 rated for gl4 or gl5
seems thinner in the jug
i'll post back my findings

Default RE: manual tranny gear oil grade

changed the gear oil in tranny with 75w140 and got a big change
able to shift 1-2 no grind and downshift down to first without having to force it into gear
had to wait for a couple of cold days

just waiting for snow and ice now
