Talking Gawd awful noise!!!!

Hey everyone
First time poster, long time Mazda owner (). 2003 Mazda B3000, automatic, only 98,000 kms (Canada eh!). Since Friday we have had this gawd awful squealing noise () from the fan area behind the radiator. DH doesn't think it's the fan belt, mentioned it might be the tensioner or the bearing in the fan. Tried to spray some grease on the fan/bearing area but hard to get at (). Any ideas what it might be and how "we" can fix it without taking it to the garage (and getting taken to the cleaners at the same time? )

Thanks for reading and thanks even more for responding!!

Take the belt off and check the bearings by hand.

Had the same thing on my 2002 last year, especially when it rained. After 3 "jobber" belts we finally bought a belt, tensioner and idler from Mazda and that fixed the problem. It only took 4 months for me to figure out that there is a slight difference between the "Jobber's" and Genuine Mazda ( or Ford) parts.
We did this ourselves but I know that the local Mazda dealer will replace the belt and tensioner for $238.00
Good Luck and us know how you make out.
