I have not been on for a while, but i need some help again. I have a 92 2600 SE5 it will start and crank runs for a just a few minutes and just dies, there is no fire. i have replace the ignition coil and the ignitor and it still does the same thing. Starts and runs for a few minutes and when it dies and shuts off it may not start back up for an hour, two hours or maybe even the next day. Anybody have any thoughts on getting this fixed?
Thanks

The symptoms you describe sound more like fuel supply than ignition components. From the description, I would start with changing the fuel filter and then check the fuel pump if the problem persists.
Hey, thanks for the reply. Ok I do need to add that a fuel pump was put on it several months back and they had to go back to it a few more times some of which was for fuel leaking.
On this occasion, or this round of it being down, right after it went down on me I was messing with it and it crank and I drove to the end of my street and before I could get it turned around it died on me. My neighbor helped me get it back to the house. While there, he pulls the coil wire off the coil and we tried to start it and there was no arching from the coil to the coil wire. So, that is reason I said "no fire" and the reason I replaced the coil and the ignitor.
I do appreciate your input. If there is more that you can add that I can get this truck back to being dependable, i really would be very thankful.
Again thanks,
Curtis

Hey again Curtis. The reason I still suspect fuel supply is because the vehicle starts and runs for awhile and then dies when you drive it. From that information, I know you have ignition and you also didn’t say it’s missing or any other clear ignition issue. I’m also assuming you’ve got sufficient air, but check your air filter.
If it starts and runs at idle, but then dies when you drive it, I would suspect insufficient fuel supply - and I would definitely not trust a new fuel pump without a pressure test. Below is a link to a post with pictures of the pressure tests recommended in the factory manual - there are two standard tests and both are easy to do if you have a pressure gauge. If you have to buy a gauge, make sure you get one in the right range - B2600 is supposed to be about 40psi for the regular pressure reading. Fuel pressure maximum range is 64-85psi (second test). If they are below expected, you either have a bad (new) pump or a feed line issue. And since you said there were some previous leaks in the fuel lines, I would check over the lines carefully.
Sorry, I can’t remember if you said you already changed the filter?, but -if not- that could also be the cause and a cheap fix. I am not one for firing the parts cannon, but it never hurts to change the filter, even if it was new, if you messed around with other fuel line components.

I believe I had a similar issue, my b2600 would start, but as soon as I went into gear, it would die on me and sometimes it would crank, but wouldn’t start. I wasn’t getting any spark either, even after inspecting ignition components. What turned out to be was the main harness connectors ( by the coolant switch) pins were not going in snugged and were pretty loose. I closed some of the pins on the female side for a tighter fit and that was it.
