There is always the rebuild your engine, or to keep driving it, find a build-able engine, go through it, bearings, rings, valve job, swap it out and drive it a few 100 grand?
Is yours the rare carburated '89 G6 model or injected?
Then there is the 60-100 more hpr of a V-6 almost drop in fit (no truck frame or body modification).

yes I here you, but the biggest problem is the transmission. when I am in 5th gear I need to turn up the radio for the whining. plus I have the SB Chevy engine. not to mention this would be very fun to drive.

P.S. yes my truck is rare '89 G6 model injected. when the swap is done I will be looking to sell the engine it is still good, runs strong and no leaks or smoke. Thanks for responding

I here the talk about overhauling the engines and all. Does anyone have experance with overhauling the 5 speed manual transmissions , $$$$??. My 5th gear makes a lot of whining noise when I use it. It may fail tomorrow or may last another 2 years. Are good used units available? Thanks
