RE: Engine swap B2600
hi. Actually I want to find out how to connect the small block to the Mazda 5-speed tranny. I know Summit has a bellhousing that fits Toyota. and there´s the thing with the flywheel and cluth, what to use. Also, how about the clearence for the distributor since the Chev has it in the rear. Lots of questions, I just can´t bring my self to put a Ford in it!

RE: Engine swap B2600
ya i will never bolt a ford motor between my fraim rails lol any who the transmission is a one piece design and does not have a removeable bell housing you must use a t-5 or t-56 which both fit right in. the fire wall has to be clearanced for the dist. aka banged in a bit but other wise it fits quite well. remember to use a bigger three core aluminum radiator and most that ive seen done had electric fans mounted to the front of the radiator behind the grill. ill see if i can get some pics for you later. also im not sure of the durrability of the stock rear end. although it came with 3.90:1 gears stock you wont need them that high with a sbc esp. if you run a t-56
Flores
ps what are you doing with the 2.6? if you still have it i want it

RE: Engine swap B2600
the t-5 is a world class or a borg warner and they came in camaro's firebirds, mustangs, and turbo 300zx's in the 80's the t-56 came in vipers vette's camaros stangs and Aston Martin DB7 Vantage and V12 Vanquishnd trans am's in the nineties and still do today. its a tremec tranny and some are capable of handling up to 550 lb/ft of torquewhere as the t-5 will only take 250 or so. T-5's were never mated with 350's by GM due to the torque the SB made which stockl was about 225-235 lb/ft the t-56 utilizes a double overdrive so closer gears can be used or a tall first gear and low cruising gears for fuel economy. if you plan on going 350 and want decent fuel econmy and great strength a t-56 is the way to go. one can be had out of a wrecked ss camaro for about 300 bucks or less and yes it fits under the b2600. too bad you are in sweden cuz i could use that motor. i wonder what shipping costs

had to go down to the shop and look at it. It sure has a separate bellhousing. it´s a 4-wheel drive by the way.
If you´re i need of a 2.6 it+s actually a Mitsubishi made for chrysler. the older Mopars used the same engine in the fwd minivans. must be tons of them on the junkyards over there?

RE: Engine swap B2600
well if you had said it was a 4wd id have told you inthe beginning either put a v6 in it or put a v-8 and get rid of the 4wd. your transfer case and tranny wont take the abuse you will terar stuff up with a 350. bestr to run a mid size v-6 like say a 231 or some thing. but ya you can get bellhousing for those.

b2600 v6 swap
I got a 1988 b2600 with the mitsu 2.8l engine which I had good luck with at first but nothing problems now. Has anyone put a v6 of any flavor in one? I hate to junk it out since I just repainted it and put a body lift in it and 33inch tires. Is there any place that sells conversion kit. I was contemplating putting solid axles from a 80s full size blazer and a 350 Chevy. So what would be the fastest and cheapest way to go. Thanks everyone

Mitsu. 2.6 build
I just built my 88' B2600 2.6. Everything is new except the block. I'm now having problems with the balance shafts. Has anyone installed an elimination kit ? And if so, did it result in higher oil pressure ? This truck now has 100 psi. + of oil pressure at start-up. Then ranging from 30 to 90. Depending on rpm. Will eliminating the shafts increase oil pressure ? And What will happen to the engine with no damper ?
