Default Engine issue, more info.

I had a issue of my truck loosing speed yesterday and it got to where it wouldn't idle or even run. Well I checked out the carb tonight. some of the allen head screws holding the spacer to the intake manifold were really loose. I tried to tighten them before I took the carb off. I was able to get them some tighter and it seemed like if you would pat the gas pedal to keep it between 2k to 3 k rpm it would try to run. I then took the carb off to tighten them and some of them were a copuple of turns loose. So I am thinking it is a vaccum hose or a gas issue. Any suggestions as to what it could be?
