i have a 91
the major problem mine had was the frame right between the cab and box was rusted out badly and needed to be plated
the previous owner had the motor rebiult drove it for a couple of months to get some of the value of the rebuild motor back then sold it for 500.00 the body was in rough shape replaced the cab/fenders and rad support
here's the link to see some of the work i did new suspension/steering/body and paint
spent approx 2500.00 incl purchase to get it to this point

None of that sounds relavent to a common problem.

Rust will depend on where you live, if your up north where they salt often in winter you can expect rust and frame rot and will probably have to strengthen parts of the frame. The only problems I've heard that happen frequently is the 4x4 not working.
