Default Odd OBDI box 94 626

Just checking if any has run into this problem. I was going to hook up my Linux laptop direct to read codes while on the road as a project. This is OBD1 and all the info I ever found on the test is to hook up TEN and GND. (I have done this on many other cars so no how to do it) I flipped open the box and the TEN pin is empty with no connection pin in it! I checked and not even a wire running up to it. I know what all the other connections are for also and they are marked correctly. So am I looking at a reject or is there a strange reason for this on this model that can be resovled.

I noticed from your other post that you had completed a conversion from auto trans to 5-speed. Was this one done on this current car? The 94 626 2.0l with A/T did not use the mazda DLC. Instead look for a ford style DLC up near the battery. This is the style with two different connectors being involved.

Babyhuey, I am talking about the ford style next to the battery. This is on the conversion 94 2.0L 626 A/T to 5 Speed. Real funny. I went to junk yard I have close by. Checked others and the pin is there as it should be of course. But mine it is not. I beginning to feel this truly is a reject. If I could find the wire I could replace it but no wires loose at least close by on the harness. If I knew where it ends up on the other end "I assume at the computer" I could just hook right in at that end and it would be even be better as it would be right close by for the laptop to hook up. Humm guess I better find out where it hooks up on other end and try to resolve that way.

We are thinking apples and oranges I think madjack. The 2.0l with automatic trans from 94-96 did not use the little box with DIAGNOSIS imprinted on the top where you would ground the TEN pin and get code output. That particular model and engine/trans configuration was Mazda's test mule to see if Ford's EEC processors would work in the long term with mazda modules, sensors, etc. Manual trans and V6 only used this DLC with grounding the TEN pin. In that same area near the battery but more towards the front of vehicle look for two connector that are not plugged into anything. Might have a cap/cover that they rest in. The single pin connector should have a Light Green w/ White stripe wire to it. The other connector should have 6 cavities for wires but three are empty. The three are Black w/ Pink stripe, Light Green, and Blue. These two are the DLC for retrieving engine codes on this application.

Thanks Babyhuey, I will look for that other connector. I wasn't sure if that was what you were telling me. Just to keep clear this does have the box on it. I will look tonight for additional connectors. I think when it put motor back in I tucked down next to battery saying to myself " wounder what wont work now cause I had this extra wire not hooked into anything". And special thanks on discription as I will be able to get the right one.

Did not run accross any cars that have that connector but out diagnostic tool has one that should be a match for the larger of the two. Pic below.
