O2M VW/Quatro 6spd 88 gtx swap
Okay so I bought a 1988 gtx with full intentions and knowledge that i am going to either have to fully swap in a BPt set up or upgrading the trans and t member and future proofing the B6t already in it. I know people use celica/caldina 5/6 speeds with adapter plates and in doing research I found a company that makes adapter plates that mates a vw o2m awd 6 speed to the BPt. With how prices are for toyota stuff at the moment, even if it's a little more work would this be a viable option to have a fun lil gtx that can be a some what reliable winter warrior? The only thing I could think to be an issue is the earlier us gtx were locking diff only and I wanna say the o2m has an active power splitter for the diff and might add complexity trying to make it work correctly? The price difference for the gt4 trans is like 2k-3k US wheres the o2m can be found for a pretty fair price based on condition. If your only opinion is "If you don't have the funds this isn't the car for you" or or in that mindset, I kindly ask for better advice or opinions. My budget is going to be about 4k so yeah that's either a full 1.8 swap with a 5 speed or trying to Frankenstein the b6t to something with a stronger 5/6 speed
