Howdy folks,

I have an opportunity to purchase an '88 323 GTX AWD Turbo. It's black with the two-level spoiler and some 5-spoke Borbet 15" wheels. 167,000 miles.

The car looks super clean with the exception of three things:
1. driver side headlight lens is cracked
2. Driver seat is torn on the seat bottom AND seatback.
3. Some rust bubbling up on the right rear wheelwell.

Other than those three things the car is pretty immaculate. A/C doesn't work and the right rear brake is stuck but that is a pretty easy fix.

What is a car like this worth? I can buy it for under $3000 (not 100% sure how much under... My dealership took it in on trade but after they fix the brake the price might vary a bit but will still be under $3k).

Any advice is appreciated!

 

sadly KBB doesn't go back that far. The dealer will be very eager to get it off the lot, unless it's a used car dealership.

But considering the miles, the rust, and the general condition. I personally wouldn't offer more than 1000-2000. But we all know some of us buy with our heart. If you love the car and are comfortable paying 3k for it then buy it.

 

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I DON'T love the car. I think it's pretty cool, but the idea would have been to buy it, drive it for a month or so, then likely re-sell it. Sounds like it'd be a loser for that!
