Need a little help
Hey Guys,
My daughter just bought a 1994 626, yesterday the CEL came on briefly, all fluids are normal. I kinda suspect it through an intermittent code because the light went back off on startup. Is there anyway to pull codes without a code reader?
The reason I ask is because I have an 87 vette, and you can pull codes from the ALDL using a paper clip.
I'd like to help my daughter, so thanks in advance.

I've seen some old Mazda documentation relating to grounding a pin of the 10 pin connector under the hood on the driver's side and then reading the blinks on the fault indicator light (CEL in your case). You would have to get the owner's manual on E Bay or something for details.
If you want to "fly blind" a bit, you could do the search for
"I have a 2000 Mazda Protege, 1.8L with 5 speed manual transmission @ 190,000 kms" posted by Adam S on 04-13-2009, 10:30 AM, follow it through and do the maintenance routine I described there, and additionally, check that the gas tank filler cap is original equipment and makes a good seal.
