mazda 626 engine swap with Miata

Will the engine and transmission from a 97 Miata bolt up to a 98 626 without major modifications ?

Nope. 626 is front engine, front wheel drive: miata is front engine, rear wheel drive. It would take major modifications! It'd be one of a kind though if you decided to try.
