Mazda 626 95 Won't start
I have a 95 Mazda 626 with a V6
It will start, but the engine surges, will not rev and and Shuts off.
It has 75 lbs of fuel pressure.
The Check engine Light blinks on and off and Tch Jumps up and down.
Sometimes it starts and other times it won't
At this point it will not start at all. I do hear the fuel pump pressurizing, but I don't think the injectors are firing. I heard a large back fire as well.
I think it's either out of time or it has a bad Crank or Cam sensor.
How do I chck the sensors What Code will they give?
Can I check the codes by grounding the green pin connector?
What is your suggestion?
Ryan

Unless you are measuring maximum pump pressure with the fuel return line pinched off then your pressure is WAY out. Should be around 42psi +/- a few. Max pump pressure spec is 72-92psi.
To get any codes you need to locate the diagnosis connector. Look for a little black or gray box with 'DIAGNOSIS' imprinted into the top of it. It should be located just to the rear and outside of the air cleaner housing and just in front of the left strut tower. Open up the top and you will see a connector looking thing inside like the diagram below. Same diagram is imprinted onto the underside of the cover you just flipped up. Use a paper clip and jump together the two pins marked "TEN" and "GND". Now get inside and turn the key on to the run position (all dash lights on but not running). The CEL should light up then go out and will then start flashing. You need to count the number of flashes in order to get the 2 digit code. For example: A code 46 would be 4 flashes, a short pause, and then 6 flashes, slightly longer pause and then repeat with 4 flashes, short pause, and then 6 flashes. Will keep repeating until you turn of the key or remove the jumper. Here is a link that texas929 found for code definitions. The list is missing 17 and 24 both of which are oxygen sensor related codes.
