does anyone know why the engine surges at tickover and when driving,at tickover the engine goes from 750rpm
to below 500rpm and then back.thanks

Surging problems are often caused by faulty throttle position sensors but with all of the problems had with mass air flow sensors in these early Proteges that could certainly be a possibility as well.

I got the same problem. My mecanic told me it is the IAC valve, but it´s very difficult to find one
