Default Key replacement

Hello there, newbie here. I've looked through the forum so forgive me if this has been on before but I have just bough a 2000 323f SE 1.8 and it has only come with one key and one fob and the key looks like there's not enough plastic for it to contain a transponder so I was wondering if I could get another cut and whether it would work. At the moment the fob needs a new battery so the car is being locked with the single key.

Thanks in anticipation.

Ed

Where in the world are you? Ring your local Mazda dealer and ask them if its a transponder key (chiped) They are really small.

Thank you for that. Situation has immediately improved because previous owner has just found a spare key so immediate panic is over
