Default Just got a 626, and have questions?

Hi all,
Just picked up a 1998 626 LX with the Manual transmission The car drives real nice, but the shifter can be hard sometimes to get into gears. Also, the shifter seems kinda loose and not too precise. Is that common with this car? Can I get an aftermarket shifter to improve the situation? I'm also looking to replace the tire/wheel due to low quality tires and "spinner" rims![:@] What's the largest width for tires that this car can take? And rim diameter? I don't think I want to go beyond 17". Currently the wheel is 14", tire is Big O 195/70/14.

Thanks!!!

my buddy has this same car and his shifter does the same thing, there is quite a lot of play in it,, as far as tire width he has 8"wide kuhmo tires on 18" rims.,,, i know 255's work as far as tire size!
