Intermittent trouble starting 323 '89 Mazda
It is a 1988, 1.6 SOHC.
You're right again, Gimme. The belt should have snapped or stretched long before to the bolt failed. Today I loosened the head bolts on my 323. They were size 13mm whereas the 323 at the yard has 12mm. Both are 88's. Anyway, I thought I be able to lift-off the three blocks holding down the shaft, but no-can-do. There are five blocks, but only three of which have bearings.
You're also right about outsourcing the project for best (and quickest) results, but if I can't manage this myself, the vehicle will be junked. I should point out I have no emotional attachments to the car and there are no after market goodies.
Highly appreciate your input, dude.
