I don't post non empirical information. There are just some things that individuals must seek and or do for themselves. I did look and found the KYB number discontinued and that led me to post the previous responses. If someone takes the time to learn how do some modifications off the books, then they are also responsible for everything that goes along with that. Changing any engineered system or not using an OEM part or a replacement part that is not been assign for a replacement of the original can have a negative effect on the system, or end result which is not always positive.
Just to be clear I engineer and design performance parts (which includes and limited to suspension parts) . So, while you do seem to have credential on servicing so it really to bad you did not go further to use your years' experience, and training and education beyond servicing possibly training others? I did! I also have to believe you know that I know what I am talking about on thread subject matter.
Disclaimers used or not there are some things that I won't post unless I am 100% sure that the outcome from the user (DIY) will be positive!!!!!!! This thread is an example of that statement.
I know people/members very well and what their actual experience level seems when they post. Or more what they don't post.
FYI I get notification when visitors or members look at assigned threads, threads participate in and always thread I authored on this forum. So I think we could say you know very well my level of experience and what I can do.
BTW as much as I know that you seem to know and have the experience level that video was really bad!!!! That guy did not take into account anything about the strut itself and only made a strut cartridge carrier. He should have mentioned replacing a used OEM strut should first be tested with basic function if not mentioning fulling testing it with a scale. Or at least suggestion replacing it with a new cartridge (shock ) . Amateur YouTube at its best! lol

The problem you have is you misread info in my posts. It was only provided to show a method that is done commercially by suspension specialists to modify obsolete sealed struts and shocks. The fact it was done by a backyarder is irrelevent. The term is "keeping the car alive" You go off on a tangent about suspension dynamics and your own little world of products you have designed and developed which I do give you credit for and have respect in your ability but don't see the benefit of adding it. You know little about my many years of experience relating to my teaching and also business experience and I prefer to keep it that way.

I don’t like to see people being mislead with bad information.
If you don’t have the correct and experienced means to “keep a vehicle alive” then it’s time to let it go.
