Hi i have an 88' mazda 626 and i was going to the 16b swap to it and my brother brought something to my attention that was interesting. I was wondering if you can take a 20b block and put a 16b head on it. im not sure so if you could help me that would be awesome

I'm sure that it's possible, but why? You could just take an fs (2.0l dohc) long block and drop that in. It will make more power and be a lot less complicated.

Either one. They are the same block, but the management and induction are different. If you are going turbo build, I would swap a complete longblock with turbo, ecu, and harness in.

well if he were to put the 1.6 head on the 2.0 block...wouldnt that be running higher compression? im pretty sure it would....which would be more power no? im not about the specs on these motors. but i know that in alot of other cars like hondas for example, if you take a b18 block(1.8) and throw a b16(1.6) head on it. you run higher compression and get a good amount of power out of it.

oh unless of course the 1.6 head only comes in sohc and the 2.0 head is dohc. then i could see how the 2.0 head would be superior
