I have a 1992 929 3.0 and the salvage yard tells me the 3.0 from the ford probe is a direct bolt in replacement?? Reason being my girlfriend drove the car until it stopped. I believe the water pump went bad. Car runs and doent sound bad on 80k miles on the car. Not sure what to do, if I should get a used motor or try to work w/this one. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

 

Should work because ford probes use a mazda engine! But make sure with your mechanic

by the way the engine in the probe is NOT the JE-48 found in the 929.

 

to the best of my knowledge, the probe was a sister car to the 626 and MX-6, not the 929.
