Default Crankshaft bearings

Are the crankshaft bearings changeable with the engine in the car? or is it easier to pull the engine and change them on the bench?

cheers.

Default RE: Crankshaft bearings

It can be done with the engine in the car but it is tough. It is a dice roll as to whether the crankshaft is in good enough shape for new bearings to take as scarring of the crank will eat your new bearings in short order so removal of the engine would probably be best as you may end up pulling the crank anyway to be ground/replaced.
