Mazda 323 5dr hatch, yr 2000

My wife plugged portable kettle into cigarette lighter socket, give her her due it was set for 12volts, but now the cigarette lighter is not working[:@] and I need it for my SatNav.
I have checked all fuses, all o.k.
Does anyone have any suggestions what the fault could be or how I remove the cigarette lighter socket from the fascia?
Any info' will be gladly received.

I have the exact same problem........how did you fix it?? Any advise would be appreciated.......it is very frustrating!!
