Default Central Locking FOB

Hi, I recently purchased a 1999 Mazda 323 Astina and having issues with the central locking remote. I am able to unlock no problems. However the lock function does not work. I have to lock via the drivers door. Any idea what may be the issue? Do I need a new fob or could it be an issue with the central locking system?

I assume you don't have a second remote? These remotes don't last forever.

I have a 2nd remote. However unfortunately it doesn’t work at all even after changing the battery.
