Default Bakup Light connection

Good day to all,
I have a 1989 mazda 323 sohc (base) hatchback 1.6L 5spd. My question is That when I bought the vehicle the backup lights did not work. looked around and I noticed the switch, but the wires were cut off and the switch went to the backup lights. I purchased a new switch to install, but I do not see where the switch gets connected to around the engine compartment. there are no plugs that I can see to connect the switch pig tail to. What does the connection looks like at the frame?. Does anyone ever had this problem, and can anyone help with this. If possible at least picture of the plug that the pigtail from switch attaches to...
Thank you in advance--any help will be appreciated.
