Hi - my '93 Mazda 626 airbag light is flashing 51, which is apparently a fuse in a module, and the whole thing, not just the fuse needs to be replaced. Is that right? I took it to an imports repair guy who said that such modules cost "a thousand bucks" and that for a car as old as mine,a replacementprobably couldn't be found anyway. He said that most people turn off the light and just drive with no airbag capability. I am not happy with that idea.
How can I get this fixed? And how much would it cost, roughly? is this something my husband (who is quite a handy mechanic) could do if we could get the part in question? and if so, where can we get it? But I'd rather it be fixed by a serious expert so that I know the airbag will go off if necessary! I have two very young kids and I want a safe car!
