my car is a 1998 626 170k miles. in the past year, i have had to replace my belts 4 times.each time happend a little differently but it all would start with the squealing noises. iwent to a few mechanics and found one who finally went in and removed thebelts, check the pulleys, cleaned everything all out and reinstalled them.he said the pulleys were fine and to come back if the squealing started again. well a few weeks later, it did and i went back and retightened everything b/c they were loose again. i did that twice and after the third time, i started hearing this loud humming sound coming from that area. the noise would get louder when i accelerated and in time just got louder and louder, with or without the a/c on.

he took a look at it again and found out that the air compressor needs to be replaced. do you think the air compressor was causing my belts to misalign?

any help would be appreciated.
